September 10, 2013
Zbikowski was handed down a four-game suspension Tuesday, 590 The Fan reports.
ANALYSIS
Zbikowski was released by the Bears near the completion of the preseason, and if another organization brings him into the fold, he will then serve the ban. The length implies that he violated the league's policy on banned substances, but in any case, it doesn't appear that the safety will be seen on a field for some time.

After failing to make much of an impact in training camp, Zbikowski was cut by the Bears and is now a free agent.
Zbikowski was not especially effective for Baltimore and ultimately lost his starting opportunity, but his defensive coordinator with the Ravens (Chuck Pagano) got the head coaching job in Indianapolis and brought Zbikowski along with him, presumably to install him as a starter. Zbikowski is somewhat of a blank slate after never earning a significant defensive role in Baltimore, but he's worth a gamble late because the defense for which he plays could spend a lot of time on the field in 2012.
Zbikowski is competing with Bernard Pollard and Haruki Nakamura for the starting spot next to Ed Reed. Pollard will probably start, though Zbikowski should definitely see the field this season
Zbikowski started four games last season as the first safety off the bench for the injured Ed Reed. He'll likely be the first one called again should Reed, who is fighting to recover from hip reconstruction surgery, go down again. Zbikowski is a solid hitter who could put up decent tackle totals should he have an opportunity to play.
Zbikowski is expected to compete with Dawan Landry for the starting strong safety spot next to Ed Reed.
