Past Fantasy Outlooks
2011
2010
2009
Davis was signed late in 2010. He enters 2011 in a crowded backfield. He needs a strong preseason to make the team.
The Browns were very high on Davis coming out of training camp in 2009 as a rookie, but he suffered a season-ending shoulder injury after Week 1 and he never got the opportunity to live up to his potential. The Browns found a starter in Jerome Harrison and drafted Montario Hardesty in the second round of this year's draft, making it again unlikely Davis will have the opportunity to show what he's got. Still, he will get some looks here and there but he should not be expected to make a significant impact unless the Browns running backs are plagued by injuries.
Davis, who nearly entered the 2008 draft, fell to the sixth round in 2009 after a disappointing senior season at Clemson. His YPC dropped to 4.4, but the offensive line struggled mightily, and his rushing stats suffered when he had to share carries with C.J. Spiller, a possible future first-rounder. Davis still managed to score double-digit touchdowns for the third straight year, and his modest workload means he enters the NFL with fresh legs. While not a true breakaway threat, he displays good vision, is tough and possesses good hands. Davis has far more potential than his draft spot indicates, and with just an aging and declining Jamal Lewis as his main competition in Cleveland’s backfield, he’s a terrific sleeper.
