The Dolphins released Fields on Tuesday, the South Florida Sun-Sentinel reports.

ANALYSIS
Fields was a Pro Bowler in 2013 and has been the Dolphins' punter since 2007, but Miami decided to head into the season with the cheaper and younger Matt Darr. Fields will get a chance to hook on with another team before the season begins.

Although there was some talk during the off-season that the Dolphins and Fields might part ways, he will once again punt for the team this season.

Fields continues to be one of the better punters in the game and has averaged more than 48 yards per punt in each of the past four seasons.

Fields is one of the best punters in the game and may have had his best season to date in 2012 with a 50.2 AVG and 41.2 NET AVG.

Fields will once again be the Dolphins punter this season. In leagues that require a punter, Fields could be an option, but not at the top of anyone's list.
