Ta'amu signed a one-year deal with the Cardinals on Thursday, Darren Urban of the team's official site reports.
ANALYSIS
Despite sustaining a torn ACL in Week 17, Arizona will keep the nose tackle around on a cheap deal in order to provide depth for Dan Williams. In 14 games, Ta'amu made a sparse mark on the stat sheet, posting seven tackles (five solo) and no other counting stats.

Beset by issues both on and off the field in his brief career, Ta'amu has yet to fulfill expectations as a fourth-round pick of the 2012 NFL Draft. He initially burned bridges with the Steelers after an encounter with local police. Upon joining the Cardinals just before the 2013 campaign kicked off, he was contained to nine tackles in 14 games, and an ACL tear in Week 17 bled into last season. While his 2013 output remains his sole contribution as a professional, the offseason addition of Corey Peters could hamper Ta'amu's chances of landing on this year's 53-man roster.

Ta'amu suffered a torn ACL in Week 17's loss to the 49ers and will likely have a procedure performed next week, Kent Somers of the Arizona Republic reports.

Ta'amu plead guilty to reckless endangerment, resisting arrest and drunken driving stemming from an October 14 incident, ESPN.com reports. "I was a rookie and I was scared. I was a Steeler and I was drunk driving," Ta'amu told the judge. In response, the judge said "You shouldn't be treated any more harshly, but you shouldn't be dealt with a lighter hand because you're a Pittsburgh Steeler."
