The Falcons will roll with reigning league MVP Matt Ryan at quarterback this season, and it seems likely that veteran Matt Schaub will handle the second string duties, so Simms will compete with Alex Torgerson for the third spot on the depth chart. Simms will turn 29 before October, so it’s unlikely that he’ll experience a big enough leap in his game to unseat Schaub, and the more relevant question is whether or not he’ll make the 53-man final roster.
