Though not listed on the Patriots' injury report after practicing fully Wednesday, Gillislee (knee) calls himself a game-time decision for Super Bowl LII, WEEI.com reports. "As far as health-wise, I am almost there," Gillislee noted Wednesday. "I am not where I want to be. I have battled a couple of injuries this year, but I was able to be healthy this week enough to practice. That has been great."

2018

2017

It's been a long road to prominence for Gillislee. Drafted by Miami in 2013, injuries limited him to three games over his first two seasons, and he bounced around before Buffalo gave him a chance late in 2015. He emerged as a short-yardage weapon last year, scoring seven TDs on just 10 carries inside the 5-yard line. He runs with power, and while there isn't much wiggle to his game, he's learned to hammer through the first hole he sees. The Patriots signed him to replace LeGarrette Blount, and given Blount's league-leading 18 rushing TDs in 2016, Gillislee is in an ideal situation to build on last season's success. New England's backfield is crowded, however, so while he should get plenty of scoring opportunities, he's unlikely to get enough snaps to demonstrate that he's capable of being more than a battering ram.

2016

Late in 2015, Gillislee showed some flashes of potential, averaging 5.7 yards per carry and scoring three touchdowns in the final five games. However, his lone chance with double-digit carries came in the last game of the season and was a disaster with 24 carries for 28 yards, no touchdowns or receptions, and a lost fumble. In an offense centered on LeSean McCoy, second-year runner Karlos Williams was presumed to be the top backup, but his four-game suspension and subsequent release opened the door for the likes of Gillislee, Reggie Bush and fifth-round draft pick Jonathan Williams to vie for the role. Bush may have a bigger role as a receiver, but Gillislee is the favorite to open the season as McCoy's top backup for early downs.

2015

Gillislee was the Dolphins’ fifth round pick in the 2013 draft, but after playing in only three games (six carries) that season, he missed all of the 2014 campaign due to a hamstring injury. What can we expect this season? Well, he will have to fight for a job in a Dolphins’ backfield that is plenty deep entering the upcoming campaign. Gillislee may have the upper hand seeing as though he was the team’s draft pick, but he could also be behind the eight ball after seeing little to no game action over the past two seasons.

2014

The fifth-round draft pick out of Florida was placed on IR by the Dolphins.

2013

The Dolphins spent a fifth-round pick on Gillislee after he rushed for 1,152 yards and 10 touchdowns as a senior at Florida. While Gillislee won't make a lot of NFL linebackers and defensive backs miss, he does show promising vision and toughness going between the tackles and is a mature pass-blocker, which could earn him third-down work. The 5-11, 210-pound rookie could leapfrog the underwhelming Daniel Thomas in the preseason to become Lamar Miller's primary backup.
