Line (knee) announced his retirement from the NFL on Wednesday, Amie Just of The New Orleans Times-Picayune reports.
ANALYSIS
Line played seven seasons in the NFL after going undrafted out of SMU in 2013, spending his final three years with the Saints. He appeared in 12 contests in 2019 before a knee injury sidelined him, recording seven carries for 20 yards and six catches for 36 yards across that span. Following Line's departure, Ricky Ortiz is the only true fullback on New Orleans' roster.

The Vikings re-signed Line during the 2016 offseason, securing his status as the team's No. 1 fullback. He had as many receptions as rushes during the 2015 season with six apiece, including three total touchdowns. Those numbers don't figure to change much in 2016, while the 26-year-old provides superstar running back Adrian Peterson with blocking out of the backfield.
Line will try to sick on the roster as a fullback, but the Vikings have de-emphasized the position under offensive coordinator Norv Turner.
Line, an undrafted free agent from SMU, began last season as the starting fullback while Jerome Felton was out due to a suspension. He made a strong impression, but he'll have a hard time finding a significant role under new offensive coordinator Norv Turner, who hasn't used traditional fullbacks much in his career.
Line will have a tough task to make the roster at fullback with Jerome Felton entrenched as the starter at the position.
