Since entering the league as a seventh-round pick in 2013, Butler has spent the entirety of his six-year career as a depth wideout with the speed and size to warrant occasional deep targets. The 6-3, 220-pounder has never translated his physical gifts to the field in the form of anything more than inconsistent production, having maxed out at 21 catches, 317 yards and three touchdowns in any given season. There's room on Miami's depth chart for Butler to carve out a big-play role on designed targets, given that the Dolphins did not select a single wide receiver during the 2019 NFL Draft, but his usage will be restricted due to the presence of Kenny Stills (a more appealing deep threat) and Albert Wilson (a more dangerous threat out of the slot), both of whom possess every-down skill-sets.
