After being a practice squad player for his first year in the league, Johnson raised eyebrows by catching 31 passes on 58 targets for 475 yards and two touchdowns in 2014. Since that point, however, Johnson has struggled to make an impact, recording just 29 catches for 359 yards. The production came despite playing in a target-deficient Vikings offense, so joining a Panthers teams with Kelvin Benjamin, Greg Olsen, Devin Funchess and rookies Christian McCaffrey and Curtis Samuel doesn't exactly seem conducive to a rebound. However, Johnson underwent knee surgery at the beginning of training camp and landed on injured reserve. His best chance of suiting up this season will likely involve an injury settlement from the Panthers and subsequently playing the waiting game.
