RotoWire's Preseason Outlooks
There was no outlook written for Trent Murphy.
Murphy’s second year in the league provided similar production to his rookie season, as the linebacker recorded 33 combined tackles and 3.5 sacks in 16 games played. The ex-Stanford player was on the field for 64 percent of the Redskins’ defensive snaps in 2015, finishing with less playing time at linebacker than only Ryan Kerrigan and Will Compton. Murphy will likely see similar usage in 2016.
The 2014 second round draft pick is expected to see a larger role in 2015. He will begin the season as the starting outside linebacker and looks to improve from his rookie campaign. He recorded 2.5 sacks and three forced fumbles last season.
Murphy was selected in the second round of the 2014 draft. He will see time as an outside linebacker in the Redskins 3-4 defense. He's expected to spend most of the year learning and sharing time with veterans Ryan Kerrigan and Brian Orakpo.
