Reaves (sports hernia) was waived by the Chiefs with an injury settlement, Terez A. Paylor of the Kansas City Star reports.
ANALYSIS
Reaves had a strong showing in training camp last season but was eventually released in early September before spending the majority of the 2016 campaign on the team's practice squad. While he signed a reserve/future contract with the Chiefs for the upcoming season, a sports hernia has brought his availability for training camp into question, so the Chiefs are opting to waive him with a settlement, which allows them to check out some other options in the backfield. Reaves has played in a total of just six regular-season games, all of which came in 2014 with the Panthers.

Past Fantasy Outlooks
2016
2015
Although he has a little experience carrying the ball (31 attempts for 78 yards with the Panthers in 2014), Reaves enters camp buried on the depth chart behind four other running backs, and it would require a strong showing for the second-year back to crack the Chiefs' 53-man roster.
A late addition to the roster, Reaves will attempt to latch onto a reserve role in the backfield. He faces an uphill battle, however, with two backs (Jamaal Charles and Knile Davis) already locked into spots, and a third (Charcandrick West) that holds a large advantage in the race. If he somehow snags a spot, his utility will on Sundays will mostly come on special teams.
