2019 Fantasy Outlook
The offseason re-signing of Denzel Perryman likely quelled any optimism regarding Brown turning into a breakout IDP candidate in 2019. Still, given the Perryman's injury history (16 games missed in the past two seasons) it's not hard to envision a scenario where at some point this season Brown becomes the focal point in an emerging linebacking corps. Brown recorded a career-high in tackles (97) in 2018, but that occurred only after season-ending injuries to Perryman and Kyzir White, the latter of which is expected to regain his role as coverage linebacker in obvious passing situations. Ankle
January 7, 2019
Brown (ankle) was placed on injured reserve Monday, Ricky Henne of the Chargers' official site reports.
ANALYSIS
This is no surprise, considering Brown has already been ruled out for the postseason due to an ankle injury he picked up in the regular-season finale against Denver. It's not clear when the linebacker is expected to be healthy again, or if he'll be limited when OTAs come around in late April. In any case, the ascending talent is under contract with Los Angeles for one more season after cranking out a career-high 97 tackles over 15 games in 2018.

Past Fantasy Outlooks
2018
2017
After a promising rookie campaign, Brown's second season was a major disappointment, as the middle linebacker eventually fell out of the team's rotation following a string of poor performances. The surprising drop-off in production prompted the Chargers to retain the services of Nick Dzubnar and Hayes Pullard in the offseason, both of whom briefly started at ILB in 2017, as well as select Ucheena Nwosu in the second-round of the 2018 NFL Draft. As a result, Brown will have to ascend a loaded depth chart if he has any hopes of starting alongside incumbent ILB Denzel Perryman.
The NFL took Brown for an afterthought as a 220-pound linebacker out of Akron, but the Chargers clearly got a steal by snagging him in the fifth round of last year's draft. Brown went three rounds later for the sin of playing at a small school. It took injuries to Denzel Perryman and Manti Te'o for Brown to get the opportunity, but he made quite an impression as a rookie. With 79 tackles and 3.5 sacks while playing just 599 snaps, Brown made it clear he possesses unique upside as a tackle and blitzing threat now that Te'o isn't in town.
