2020 Fantasy Outlook
Smith was scooped up by the Jets prior to the 2019 season and carved out a respectable role for himself, catching 17 passes for 225 yards in 13 games. The Texans castoff showcased some valuable versatility, rushing three times for 52 yards and a touchdown while also contributing as a kick returner. Smith's explosiveness and special teams role should earn him a roster spot, but he should be more of a gadget player than a consistent contributor once he recovers from core muscle surgery. Drops kickoff in season debut
WRNew York Jets
October 19, 2020
Smith (abdomen) had a seven-yard kickoff return and didn't touch the ball on offense in Sunday's 24-0 loss to the Dolphins.
ANALYSIS
Making his season debut after being taken off IR, Smith dropped the ball on a kickoff and was smothered soon after picking it up, forcing the Jets to start that drive from their own nine-yard line. Smith was involved in some gadget plays that capitalized on his speed last season, but he only played five snaps on offense and wasn't targeted in this one.

2019 Fantasy Outlook
Smith was an emergency fill-in for the Texans in 2018, playing only when injuries mounted at wide receiver. He scored his first professional touchdown in Week 16 and ended up playing 90 percent of the snaps in the team's playoff loss to Indianapolis. Smith entered training camp as a depth option and lost out to DeAndre Carter for a roster spot. He was signed to the Texans' practice and provides insurance should Will Fuller and/or Keke Coutee fall prey to health issues again. Smith will be a capable replacement who has knowledge of the offense.
