2021 Fantasy Outlook
With the Bears placing slot receiver Anthony Miller on the trade block this offseason, it's no surprise that they selected the 5-10, 190-pound Newsome in the sixth round of the 2021 Draft. During four years at North Carolina, Newsome manned the slot often and arrives in Chicago boasting precise route running. However, playing a position that largely relies on agility in the NFL, he didn't place above the 17th percentile in either of two agility drills at his pro day. Plus, he isn't fast for his size, as his 4.57 40 time checked in at just the 25th percentile. The Bears did end up trading Miller, but only after Newsome suffered a broken collarbone during spring practices, forcing him to the sideline for the start of training camp. He'll have a tough time earning snaps early on. Read Past Outlooks

Newsome was waived by the Bears on Tuesday, Tom Pelissero of NFL Network reports.
ANALYSIS
The rookie sixth-round pick apparently didn't show enough over the past few months to warrant a spot on Chicago's initial 53-man roster. The Bears hope to bring back Newsome via the practice squad, but he'll first need to pass through waivers unclaimed.
