Morrison is expected to line up as a starter at outside linebacker in the Bills' new 4-3 base scheme. Morrison was picked up by the Bills too close to the 2011 season and never had time to really fit in under the previous defense, registering just seven tackles and a sack in spot duty across 14 games. He's been in the league a while, but at 30 there's still some mileage left too. While we like Nick Barnett and Kelvin Sheppard a lot better as IDPs, we'll also note that Morrison has put up 90-plus tackles five times in his career, so it's worth monitoring how much time he's getting on the field.

After being one of the league’s elite IDPs from 2005 to 2009, totaling 631 tackles in that five-year span, Morrison unceremoniously faded into obscurity in 2010, making him perhaps the biggest IDP disappointment of last year. The unrestricted free agent figures to be better than his 89-tackle (64 solo) season from 2010, but there is no clear indication that he has a starting role waiting for him anywhere. That said, he’s someone to keep a close eye on given that he finished the 2009 season with a monstrous 109 solo stops.

With an average of 134 tackles the last two seasons, Morrison got in more than enough hits to merit a starting spot in IDP leagues. This season he’ll be making those tackles for Jack Del Rio’s Jaguars after the Raiders traded him to Jacksonville. Morrison has the potential to put up truly elite IDP numbers if he can return to his ball-hawking ways. He failed to intercept a pass after totaling seven in the previous three seasons (four in 2007). Even still, 130-plus tackles alone make him a top IDP option.

Morrison might not post the gaudy tackle numbers of a Patrick Willis, but his ball-hawking talent gives his game a dimension other linebackers can’t match – seven interceptions in the last three seasons, four in 2007 alone. Used more in run support in 2008, he picked off just one pass – but compensated by posting a career high in tackles with 135 and forced two fumbles. Morrison is probably a step or two below the top IDP linebackers because he doesn’t get involved in the pass rush much (three career sacks), but he is excellent in coverage, which make his interceptions less of a fluke.

Morrison has been extremely consistent in the tackling department in three NFL seasons. He made 116 tackles as a rookie and 127 in 2006. Last season, he posted 119. Morrison had six interceptions the last two seasons, an impressive total for a linebacker. While he doesn't record quite as many tackles as his elite counterparts, Morrison makes up most of the difference with his interception potential. He has the ability to see the whole field and the speed to close gaps in a hurry.

Starting MLB finished 2006 with 127 tackles, a sack, 2 picks, a fumble recovery, and a td. Morrison looks to be a special player and should continue to improve in 2007.

Morrison has unseated the very popular Danny Clark and will be Oakland's starting lineup in 2006. He has fantastic speed and is a tremendous tackler, registering 116 tackles (including 91 solo efforts) as a rookie in '05. He failed to record a sack or pick off a pass last year, but could be a sleeper if the overall team effort to force more turnovers results in Morrison being turned loose.

Morrison, the 78th pick overall of the 2005 draft, is a natural middle linebacker putting him behind starter Danny Clark on the depth chart. However, he could eventually challenge for playing time at either the weakside or strongside positions if the problems the Raiders experienced last season are still present in training camp. Expect his immediate future to be on special teams.
