Expects to fill part-time role
The Saints plan to use Harper in a part-time role in which he will be deployed closer to the line of scrimmage as a blitzer and open-field tackler, ESPN.com reports.
ANALYSIS
Although he racked up 73 tackles as a starter last year in Carolina, Harper's reduced role comes as no surprise, as he was largely signed to provide veteran depth behind oft-injured safety Jairus Byrd. Even if Harper makes the Saints' final roster -- no guarantee given the team's depth at the position -- he likely will have only minimal fantasy value.

Harper made 73 tackles as a starting safety for the Panthers last season, but he returned to New Orleans this offseason, where he averaged just shy of 100 tackles per season between 2007 and 2012. Entering 11th season, however, Harper is expected to have a significantly reduced role. While he should provide veteran depth behind starting safeties Jairus Byrd and Kenny Vacarro, as a part-time player, he is unlikely to provide much value in fantasy leagues.
