Mays officially signed with the Jets on Monday, NJ.com reports.
ANALYSIS
Mays missed the first half of last season with the Chiefs due to a wrist injury, limiting him to just 20 tackles through eight games played. Now with the Jets, he'll be on his fifth team since being drafted in 2008. Furthermore, with New York inking fellow reserve inside linebackers Jamari Lattimore and Erin Henderson recently, Mays is expected to join them in competing for snaps behind starters David Harris and Demario Davis this season.

The 30-year-old will hope to latch onto a new team after being released by the Jets on September 5. He had 20 tackles in eight games with the Chiefs during the 2014 season after missing the first eight games of the year due to a wrist injury that occurred prior to the regular season.
Mays, was placed on the injured reserve/designated-to-return list in August of 2014. When he returns, he will likely take the starting spot at inside linebacker. Mays, who has a reputation of being a two-down linebacker, is at his best against the run. He's coming off a season in which he recorded 67 tackles and a sack in 14 games for the Texans.
Will start at middle linebacker and be asked to get to the ball as often as possible with Von Miller rushing the quarterback from the outside linebacker spot on nearly every down.
Will start at middle linebacker.
Mays is no lock to make the team and will battle to act as a backup linebacker and contributor on special teams.
Thrust into the Eagles' LB mix when Stewart Bradley was felled in camp by a torn ACL.
