McCoy has not played since 2012 because of consecutive offseason Achilles' injuries. Still McCoy, who played for the Seahawks when Washington GM Scot McCloughan was a front office executive for Seattle, gives Washington some much-needed tight end depth behind starter Jordan Reed and backup Derek Carrier.
After missing all of the 2013 season with a torn right Achilles tendon, McCoy suffered the same injury on his left leg in training camp and will sit out yet another campaign. Two injuries of this sort of severity could significantly hamper McCoy's chances of playing another down in the NFL.
McCoy is likely to serve as the Seahawks' No. 2 TE behind Zach Miller once again in 2013.
McCoy, Seattle's 2010 sixth-round pick, will compete with Cameron Morrah, Seattle's 2009 seventh-round pick, for the third tight end spot. McCoy looked good in mini camps and likely has an edge because he, unlike Morrah, was drafted by the new coaching regime.
