ANALYSIS
Singleton, who played with the Bucs from 1997 to 2002 (starting at strong side linebacker when the Bucs won the Super Bowl in '02), has played with Dallas for the last four seasons. Reportedly, Singleton would be willing to return in a reserve role.

Veteran OLB will be scrambling for playing time against Bobby Carpenter, a healthy Kevin Burnett and a transplanted Greg Ellis.

Singleton's a solid, productive veteran, but he may be hard-pressed to hang onto a starting spot at strong-side OLB over second-round pick Kevin Burnett in the new 3-4 defense. He'll see plenty of action even if he doesn't start, however.

Singleton had his moments in 2003, but for the most part he was simply one cog in the Dallas defensive machine. He'll return as the Cowboys strongside LB.

Singleton will open camp as the left outside linebacker in the first-string defense, ahead of first round pick Bobby Carpenter, the Cowboys website reports.
