Let go by Detroit
The Lions waived Green (concussion) with a failed physical designation Tuesday, Aaron Wilson of KPRC 2 Houston reports.
ANALYSIS
Green is seemingly still dealing with the effects of the concussion that landed him on Detroit's injured reserve last August. The 25-year-old caught one pass for two yards in nine games for the Lions back in 2023.

2023 Fantasy Outlook
A seventh-round draft pick, Green has extra opportunity to earn a roster spot in Detroit due to an offseason gambling issue that saw Jameson Williams earn a six-game suspension and Quintez Cephus receive a pink slip. While the 23-year-old is relatively old for a rookie, the 6-foot-2 Green is a lanky prospect who started earning first-team snaps during the second week of training camp. It's unclear whether Detroit will ultimately risk stashing him on the practice squad.

Getting first-team reps
In his observations of the Lions' training camp, Colton Pouncy of The Athletic relays that Green has been impressive during practices and appears to be the early frontrunner to winning the No. 3 wide receiver role behind Amon-Ra St. Brown and Jameson Williams.
ANALYSIS
Green, the Lions' 2023 seventh-round pick out of North Carolina, played in just nine regular-season games in his rookie season, finishing with one catch on two targets for two yards. Pouncy notes that Green has worked hard to learn the scheme of offensive coordinator Ben Johnson during the offseason, and the wide receiver noted after practice Friday that learning the playbook is "the biggest wall that you got to get over." With Josh Reynolds joining the Broncos in free agency, Green appears to be the early favorite to start alongside St. Brown and Williams at the WR3 spot, ahead of Kalif Raymond and Donovan Peoples-Jones.
