Brett Keisel

Keisel managed to stave off injuries and 2011 first round draft pick Cameron Heyward in 2012, turning his a career high 4.5 sacks. He enters 2103 in the final year of his five year contract with Pittsburgh.

Brett "The Diesel" Keisel recorded 48 tackles, three sacks and one fumble recovery in 2011, but has struggled with injuries throughout his career. He has missed 14 games over the past four seasons and could see competition for playing time in 2012 from 2011 first round draft pick Cameron Heyward.

Keisel had one the better years statistically for his career in 2009 with 54 tackles and three sacks. It's not enough to get him into consideration in most fantasy circles, but he provides quality defense on the field.

Various injuries limited Keisel to 10 regular season games in 2008. He provides strong play at defensive end, but he is far from being an elite option from the fantasy perspective.

Keisel may see his fantasy value increase in 2007 more than any other Pittsburgh defender. The team is looking to devise schemes freeing up Keisel as both a down lineman and as a linebacker. In a year when the Steelers drafted two linebackers in the first two rounds, Keisel could wind up being the biggest IDP sleeper on the team. He had 5.5 sacks and a fumble recovery as a down lineman in 2006.

Keisel will try to make the transition from backup defensive end/special teams star to starting defensive end following the free-agent flight of Kimo von Oelhoffen to the Jets. He has better speed than von Oelhoffen, but the end position requires a player to stay at home and help control the running lanes. He could pick up a few sacks, but he's probably not worth an IDP pick right now. That could change, however, depending upon how smoothly he acclimates himself to his new role.

Keisel the Diesel has enjoyed most of his NFL success as a special teams player, and that doesn't figure to change much in 2005.
