Scott has been released by the Bills, according to NFL.com.
ANALYSIS
This comes as a bit of a surprise, as Scott's versatility and athleticism were thought to be a good fit in Mike Pettine's new defense, but in the end it looks like the team has decided to make some long-term bets with some younger linebackers. We'd be surprised if Scott didn't sign elsewhere as a depth piece.

Scott is a solid veteran linebacker now in his seventh season in Buffalo and eleventh in the NFL. A converted safety, he should be able to use his athleticism to his advantage in Mike Pettine's attacking defense. It should be noted that Scott is not likely to be a starter in this defense, but should still see a good number of reps on game day. UPDATE: Scott was a final cut in August as the Bills trimmed their roster down to 53 players.
