Let go by Carolina
Perkins was waived by the Panthers on Monday, Darin Gantt of the team's official website reports.
ANALYSIS
Perkins signed with the Panthers on Aug. 17, completing 10 of 11 passes for 71 yards, while also adding two rushes for 28 yards in Thursday's 19-10 loss to the Steelers. Although he enjoyed plenty of success the last two springs with the UFL's Michigan Panthers, Perkins hasn't appeared in an NFL contest since 2022, and he'll likely have to settle for a practice-squad spot ahead of the 2025 campaign.

2020 Fantasy Outlook
While high-end athleticism is Perkins' calling card, he still has a steep developmental curve ahead to succeed at the highest level. His running ability and elusiveness in the open field will challenge defenses, and he's capable of delivering accurate passes from various arm angles and with both touch and strength. Still, he was turnover prone and inconsistent through his two seasons as a starter with Virginia, and he has to work on going through his progressions and reading NFL defenses. It would be surprising if Perkins didn't earn a roster spot because of his dynamic skill set, but he's also a long way from being a viable fantasy asset.

ANALYSIS
Perkins appeared in five games with the Rams in 2022. Beating out Tyrod Taylor for the backup spot behind Daniel Jones will be tough, but Perkins could earn himself a spot on New York's practice squad with a strong camp.
