Harris played for four teams during his career, appearing most recently with the Jaguars for five games earlier this season before he was cut in November. He compiled 16 interceptions and forced 14 fumbles over his eight professional seasons.

Harris is being moved from free to strong safety in an effort to get him more involved on the field. If that is the case, he should have no problem building on the 96 tackles he had during 2010.

Harris, who started 44 games for the Panthers over the past three seasons, was acquired by the Bears this offseason to fill a void at safety. Harris is the offseason favorite to earn a starting safety spot, but Major Wright, Al Afalava, Josh Bullocks, and Danieal Manning are all in the battle for the two safety positions.

Harris has been rehabbing from shoulder surgery during the offseason after starting all 16 games for the Panthers in 2008. He picked up 70 tackles last season, but considering that he's intercepted just seven passes during his first four years in the NFL, you'll wan to temper your expectations for him given the alternatives with better tackle counts at his position.

Harris heads into the 2008 season with a starting spot in the Panthers secondary and should be valued for his strong tackling. In 2007, Harris made 92 tackles despite missing the season finale.

A late-round selection in 2005, Harris has played well at both safety positions during his two years in Chicago, cracking the starting lineup as a rookie. Harris will compete for the starting free safety spot in training camp and will see plenty of playing time regardless of where he lands on the depth chart.

Harris started at free safety for the Bears last year, but will be pushed by rookie Danieal Manning to keep his starting job. He flourished early in the year, but floundered a bit as the season progressed. His propensity for big hits suits him better for strong safety, but that position is currently held down by Mike Brown, and he isn't going anywhere anytime soon.
