2025 Projections
Signed to active roster
The Texans signed Smith to their active roster Thursday, Aaron Wilson of Sportstalk 790 Houston reports.
ANALYSIS
Smith was elevated from the Texans' practice squad for their Week 14 matchup against Seattle, but he'll now land a contract to join the 53-man roster. Jonathan Greenard (illness), Derek Rivers (illness) and Jacob Martin (illness) were all placed on the reserve/COVID-19 list recently, so Smith could draw the start in Sunday's Week 16 matchup against the Chargers.

The Bears will almost certainly look to upgrade their defensive line after they were dismantled by opposing running backs and struggled to generate much pass rush in 2013.

Latest Fantasy Rumors
Works out for Texans
The Texans have worked out Smith, according to Aaron Wilson of Sportstalk 790 Houston.
ANALYSIS
The level of interest the Texans have in Smith is unclear, but there's no question he would provide a boost to one of the worst defensive units in the league. The 29-year-old has spent time with the Jaguars, Bengals, Browns and Raiders during his seven-year career, registering a season-high three sacks on two occasions. He was part of the Ravens' practice squad earlier this year.
