Spencer (ankle) returned to practice on Monday, Jim Wyatt of The Tennessean reports.

ANALYSIS
Spencer had missed two weeks due to an ankle injury suffered on Aug. 9 against Green Bay. He'll resume his backup role behind starting center Brian Schwenke.

Spencer is in line to back up Andy Levitre at left guard in 2014 for Tennessee.

Spencer enters 2013 as the backup left guard to Andy Levitre, and could find himself on the field a lot more than anticipated should Levitre's knee give way.

A 2005 first-round pick, Spencer has been slow to live up to expectations. He's back as the starting center for the Seahawks this season after losing his job to Max Unger late last year. Undersized for a typical center, Spencer has been slowed by injuries thus far in his pro career, leaving him with a lot to prove in 2010.

Spencer enters training camp as the starting center. Injuries and ineffectiveness hurt his 2008 campaign. Lucky for him the Seahawks don't have a lot of options at center.

Spencer, Seattle's 2005 first-round pick, will start at center this season, taking over for the retired Robbie Tobeck. Spencer has big shoes to fill, but looks up to the task. He played extensively last season because of injuries up and down the O-Line. The shoulder injury that limited him in minicamp is a non-factor entering training camp.

The Seahawks drafted Spencer in the first round as Robbie Tobeck's future replacement at center, but the future isn't now. Spencer is getting snaps with the second and third units in camp and will only play this season if Tobeck gets hurt.
