2023 Fantasy Outlook
Uzomah's set to reprise his role as the No. 2 tight end for the Jets, who are also returning Tyler Conklin and 2022 third-round pick Jeremy Ruckert. New York frequently used formations with two tight ends in 2022, but Uzomah topped 60 percent of offensive snaps only six times, while Conklin exceeded 70 percent 14 times. Conklin also racked up 552 yards to Uzomah's 232. Ruckert could push for more playing time in 2023, but the 6-6, 260-pound Uzomah is the largest of the three tight ends and the best blocker, so perhaps he can carve out a role as a red-zone weapon for Aaron Rodgers in New York's new-look offense. Makes first catch of season
Uzomah caught his only target for nine yards in Sunday's 15-10 loss to the Patriots.
ANALYSIS
Uzomah has been targeted only once through three games, while Tyler Conklin has nine catches on 13 targets heading into a Week 4 home game against the Chiefs. With Conklin dominating targets among the team's tight ends, Uzomah has been a nonfactor in the passing game, and that's unlikely to change moving forward.

Recent RotoWire Articles Featuring C.J. Uzomah See More

With veteran breakout candidates all falling flat, a pair of NFC North tight ends are rapidly emerging as the league's new stars at the position.

The Dolphins rightfully get most of the headlines this week, but De'Von Achane might not be the only emerging rookie star in a high-flying AFC offense.

Tutu Atwell had another big game, and he's still available on waivers in a lot of leagues after the focus last week fell on teammates Puka Nacua and Kyren Williams.

The Rams remain the center of the fantasy universe as RotoWire's Jerry Donabedian takes his weekly look at playing time, usage and personnel from every Week 2 contest.

Uzomah parlayed a career year in 2021 with Cincinnati into a three-year, $24 million deal with
the Jets in free agency. He notched career highs in catches (49), receiving yards (493) and
touchdowns (five) last season, needing just 63 targets to reach those totals thanks to a 77.8
percent catch rate. While he was overshadowed by Cincinnati’s wide receivers, Uzomah
provided a dependable target underneath for second-year QB Joe Burrow and should do the
same for another second-year signal-caller this season in Zach Wilson. Wilson looked
significantly more raw than Burrow last year, which made getting him a security blanket at tight
end an offseason priority for the Jets. The problem for Uzomah is that New York double-dipped
at the position in free agency and also signed ex-Viking Tyler Conklin, who had more catches
and yards last year than Uzomah. Both tight ends should see extensive playing time, but
Uzomah got a slightly larger contract and has shown more ability to do damage down the seam
in addition to catching short throws.
