Working out for Jags
Carpenter has a workout scheduled with the Jaguars, NFL Network's Ian Rapoport reports.
ANALYSIS
Carpenter would compete with Jason Myers for Jacksonville's kicking job if all goes well in the workout. The veteran is currently a free agent after spending the past four seasons in Buffalo, where new Jaguars coach Doug Marrone was in charge during Carpenter's first two years with the team. Last season, the 31-year-old converted 19 of 25 field goals, including all 14 of his attempts from under 40 yards, but he did miss five of 45 extra-point tries.

The new PAT distance did no favors for Carpenter, as his six misses on 40 attempts gave him the second-worst conversion rate in the league. The Bills' offense was much better last year than the previous two (ranking 12th in total points in 2015 versus 18th and 22nd in 2014 and 2013, respectively) but the kicking game took a hit because of it, as Carpenter had 11 fewer attempts and converted at a worse rate. For those who worry about the Buffalo weather toward the end of the season, Carpenter is 13-of-14 on field-goal attempts at home after Dec. 1.

Carpenter was just 1-for-3 on field goals in Sunday's loss to the Dolphins. He made all four of his extra-point attempts, but the two misses -- on a day where Miami's Andrew Franks was better -- ended up making a huge difference in the overtime loss.
