A second-round pick in 2017, Kizer is fighting for his NFL career heading into the 2021 season. After washing out with the Browns, Packers and Raiders, Kizer may be on his last chance to stick at the highest level of professional football. Kizer joined the Titans on a futures contract in January and will be set to battle Logan Woodside for the privilege of backing up Ryan Tannehill.
2018 was the first year in Green Bay for Kizer, who was acquired in an offseason trade. Kizer appeared in 15 games in his 2017 rookie season, but he still has plenty of learning to do, as he struggled both times he saw extended action last year. He gave up a pick-six while briefly filling in for an injured Aaron Rodgers in Week 1, and failed to produce a point while playing nearly the entire game when Rodgers was injured again in Week 17. Despite those results, the Packers did not add a veteran quarterback during the offseason, so Kizer heads into training camp expected to remain the backup. He will likely draw some sort of challenge from fellow reserve Tim Boyle, who showed enough promise last year to remain on the 53-man roster the entire season.
Kizer appeared in 15 games with the Browns during his rookie season, and the results weren't pretty as he completed just 53.6 percent of his passes and posted an 11:22 TD:INT. Though Kizer was only in Cleveland one year and was a second-round selection in 2017, the Browns deemed him expendable following the trade for Tyrod Taylor. The Browns further bolstered the position with the pick of Baker Mayfield first overall in the draft, leading the team to trade Kizer to Green Bay. Kizer is set to open the season as the Packers' backup quarterback behind Aaron Rodgers.
A second-round draft pick, Kizer will compete with Cody Kessler, Brock Osweiler and Kevin Hogan to start for the Browns. At 6-4, 230, Kizer has prototypical size for a QB and a big arm to match. Scouts praised his poise in the pocket and willingness to hang in and take hits. Reports out of OTAs said Kizer was already ahead of the competition in terms of arm strength and mobility; but his accuracy, field vision and decision making -- which in part kept him out of the first round -- are still developing. The Browns, who don't look to be going anywhere this year, have plenty of time; it's just a matter of when they want to get the ball rolling on the only candidate of the quartet with quarterback-of-the-future potential. Kessler seemingly fell out of the competition early in training camp, leaving Osweiler and Kizer to duke it out. The rookie then outplayed the veteran in the first two preseason games, emerging as the favorite to get the Week 1 start in the process.

The Titans hosted Kizer for a visit Friday, Aaron Wilson of the Houston Chronicle reports.
ANALYSIS
Kizer tried out with the Bears earlier in the week, but apparently, there wasn't interest despite the Bears' uncertain quarterback situation. The 2017 second-round pick would simply be depth in Tennessee, and he could possibly push Logan Woodside to be Ryan Tannehill's backup. Kizer last played for the Packers in 2018 when he completed 48 percent of his passes for 187 yards, no touchdowns and two interceptions over 62 snaps on offense.
