The Bears have informed Williams (neck) that they do not intend to re-sign him during the offseason, ESPN Chicago reports.
				ANALYSIS
The decision isn't much of a surprise after injury issues marred Williams' two-year tenure with the Bears, limiting him to just 10 games in 2013 and six in 2014 before landing on IR. The 32-year-old was regularly a 100-tackle talent during his prime years with the Broncos, but he looks to be a backup-level player at this point. He should still receive some interest on the open market, assuming he's willing to accept a reduced role with another team.

Williams was able to beat out rookie Jon Bostic for the starting middle linebacker job last summer, racking up 27 tackles in six starts before a torn pectoral muscle ended his season. Now recovered from the injury and re-signed by the Bears to a one-year deal, Williams looks poised to reclaim the top spot on the depth chart again, with Bostic expected to pose a bigger threat to Shea McClellin for the strong-side linebacker gig. Williams offers capable tackling skills and ample experience calling signals for a defense, but with just 13 games played over the last two seasons, it's difficult to back on him holding up for the entirety of 2014. When on the field, Williams brings above-average pass-rushing skills for a middle linebacker, but isn't a major turnover producer.
