Maas has been traded from Edmonton to Hamilton in a CFL transaction, CBC Sports reports.
ANALYSIS
Maas was traded for veteran quarterback Danny McManus, two other players and a first-round draft choice. Maas was viewed by many as the league's best quarterback in 2004, but he lost his starting job with Edmonton in 2005 when Ricky Ray returned from the NFL. However, Maas came off the bench in both of Edmonton's first two playoff games this season to lead the Eskimos to come-from-behind wins. Maas is signed through the 2007 season, plus an option year, so the ex-Oregon quarterback is still a couple of years away from being able to return to the States and try to play in the NFL.
