Murphy will compete for one of the final spots on the Rams' defensive back depth chart. If he makes the team his primary role is likely to be special teams.

Was almost guaranteed the nickelback spot but his ankle injury will probably put him on the IR prior to the start of the season.

Murphy impressed in OTAs and mini-camp and could most definitely compete for the nickel-back spot early in the season while pushing guys like Justin King and Ron Bartell for a starting role at corner.
