Barnes signed a contract with the Cardinals on Tuesday, Darren Urban of the Cardinals' official site reports.

ANALYSIS
The Cardinals brought in the veteran Barnes after placing Jared Veldheer (ankle) on injured reserve. Barnes, 35, spent time with the Saints during the preseason but was released prior to Week 1. Rookie Will Holden is likely to start at left tackle in Veldheer's absence, making Barnes a reserve option on the line.

Entering his 11th season in the league, Barnes will be a utility lineman for the Raiders in 2015, adding depth and experience to a fairly young offensive line. He's capable of playing guard or tackle which should help him get on the field at some point if anyone goes down with an injury. The Raiders will do everything they can to protect their talented young quarterback, and Barnes could play a solid role in that.

Starting left tackle and probably the most promising player on the Jaguars offensive line. Barnes was drafted in the second round of the 2005 draft and immediately paid dividends for the Jaguars. He started the final 12 games of last season and didn’t relinquish a sack for the first 11. Count on him to improve on last year’s strong performance and to provide steady protection for Byron Leftwich.

The rookie tackle was once thought to be ready to come in and start on the offensive line, but that hasn't beem the case, instead he will be serving time as a backup for the forseeable future.
