Mulligan caught his only target for minus-two yards during Saturday's playoff game against the Seahawks.

ANALYSIS
Mulligan's catch resulted in a failed fourth-down conversion attempt and perfectly encapsulates the disappointing performance of Detroit's entire receiving corps. Signed in November after failing to survive final cuts out of training camp, Mulligan finished the regular season with just one catch for eight yards across eight games. As he's almost exclusively deployed as an in-line blocking tight end, Mulligan is highly unlikely to attain fantasy relevance all of a sudden in 2017.

Mulligan is a 31-year-old blocking specialist with just 17 career receptions to his name. He was ultimately released by the Lions during the first round of roster cuts.

Veteran tight end has good experience and played for Rex Ryan in the past but will battle for a roster spot.

Mulligan enters training camp as one of four prospective candidates vying to win a role as the No. 2 tight end behind Martellus Bennett. The 29-year-old Mulligan is perhaps the most talented blocking tight end of the quartet, which may be enough for him to win the gig. Don't expect him to be much of a factor in the passing game, however, as Mulligan has notched only 16 receptions for 160 yards and two touchdowns during parts of four NFL seasons.

Signed by the Patriots in September.

Mulligan is one of many tight ends on the club's roster who is unlikely to make the final 59 unless the team keeps four tight ends, and even then there's no guarantees.

Will compete for a tight end spot in training camp but there are a few guys ahead of him on the depth chart

The pride of the Maine Black Bears had just 23 catches in two college seasons, so you know what we're dealing with here. Mulligan will be doing well merely to make the final roster.
