Dallas has already signed Brett Pierce to replace Dan Campbell in a blocking TE role, and needed another spot on the 53-man roster to protect rookie LB Ryan Fowler -- Ricks became the odd man out.

Past Fantasy Outlooks
2004
2003
Ricks got banged up in 2003 and lost playing time to Casey FitzSimmons, but still managed to improve his numbers by 10 catches and 95 yards as the result of injuries at wideout. Ricks was slated to be the Lions’ primary receiving tight end again this year, but he did not participate in the Lions’ voluntary workout in June and was subsequently let go. Signed by the Jets in July, he'll have Anthony Becht and Chris Baker to contend with, but with his receiving ability, he could become a sleeper should he develop good chemistry with Chad Pennington.
Ricks showed some big-play ability in 2002, averaging 12.6 yards per catch (tied for third in league), but was limited by a moribund offense that ranked 25th in passing. Joey Harrington should be improved, and Charles Rogers may open some room for Ricks, who is a former wideout. We like the big-play factor, but he's not a fantasy starter yet.
