Ray Edwards

Edwards is a double-digit sack threat as he pairs up with John Abraham and the Falcons in 2011. With 16.5 sacks in the last two years, Edwards has proved that he's a force that opposing teams need look out for on every play. He'll work opposite Abraham as he stays in a 4-3 defensive scheme, and could be poised for a big 2011 with young quarterbacks dotting the NFC South.

Playing on a defensive line with three Pro Bowlers has it advantages. Edwards posted a career-high 8.5 sacks last season as he was rarely double-teamed thanks to the presence of Jared Allen, Kevin Williams and Pat Williams. The sacks ranked 10th among defensive linemen, and he backed that up with a healthy 51 tackles. The Williams’ PED case could impact Edwards if the tag-team interior linemen are suspended, but at press time it appears as if both DT’s will play a full season thanks a to a court injunction.

Edwards had 53 tackles and five sacks, which was a little disappointing since he didn't improve his numbers from last season despite playing next to three Pro Bowl linemen. He'll start at left defensive end.

Edwards could actually be a big sleeper in IDP leagues. The 23-year-old logged five sacks in 2007 despite missing the last four games due to a suspension. He is the fourth man on a defensive line that features three Pro Bowl players, meaning he could go all season long without seeing a single double-team. With Pat and Kevin Williams clogging up the middle, teams are often forced to throw more than they'd like against the Vikings. A double-digit sack total is within reach.

Edwards had three sacks in his rookie season last year. He will add depth to the Vikings' defensive line, and he could find himself in the starting lineup if there are any injuries.

Edwards is a developmental project who’ll have a tough time winning playing time on a deep defensive line.
