Red Bryant

Bryant is not an IDP option because he doesn't rush the quarterback (two sacks the last three years), and does get many tackle opportunities (24 last season) despite being a run-stuffing defensive end. The Seahawks hope to bring more quarterback pressure this season, which could cost Bryant snaps to free-agent acquisition Michael Bennett. Bryant played with a torn plantar fascia during the second half of last season but is expected to be healthy this season.

Bryant is a run-stuffing defensive end who displayed his athleticism last year by blocking three field goals and an extra point, intercepting two passes and scoring a touchdown. Unfortunately, he doesn't measure up as IDP performer, though. He totaled just 32 tackles and a sack last season. Expect more of the same this season -- more valuable to the Seahawks than to fantasy owners.

Bryant might wear No. 79, but no one is going to confuse him with his father-in-law, Jacob Green, who wore the number while becoming Seattle's all-time sack leader (1980-91). Bryant, though, will move to Green's old spot this season at left defensive end with the Seahawks hoping he can use his size (6-4, 318) to thwart the run. At that size, though, don't expect much of a pass rush.
