Scott Fujita

The veteran will start at OLB for the Browns in the team's new 4-3 base defense. He has not put up the gaudiest numbers since he has been in Cleveland, but that could change with a new scheme. Still, he should not be considered among the league's elite linebackers at this point.

Will step in and start right away - likely on the inside of the Browns' 3-4.

Simply put, Fujita is solid, yet unspectacular at the outside linebacker position. Fujita recorded 81 tackles, 2 interceptions, and one forced fumble in 2009 for the Saints. It is possible that his numbers could improve with Greg Williams and his aggressive scheme installed in New Orleans, but there is very little in Fujita's past that would support any sort of significant rise in production.

Fujita is a player who offers consistent IDP value. He is all but guaranteed to play in all 16 games and will give you a few sacks and around 90 tackles. The Saints brought in Jonathan Vilma to strengthen the linebacker unit, which should help free Fujita up to make more plays.

Fujita has played on three different teams in the last three years, but he appeared to find home with the Saints in 2006. Fujita was one of the most consistent members of the Saints' defense, and posted 96 tackles, 3.5 sacks, and two interceptions. The Saints added some depth at linebacker this offseason, including Dhani Jones and Brian Simmons, which could cut into Fujita's playing time. However, Fujita should retain his position as a starting linebacker, and there is no reason to expect a significant dropoff in production this season.

Acquired via free agency in March, Fujita is projected to start at linebacker for the Saints this season. Fujita spent last season with the Cowboys, spending much of the first half of the season coming off the bench, but performing well as a starter during the second half. The former fifth-round draft pick isn't a stud performer, but he brings consistency to a Saints' defense that seriously lacked consistency in 2005.

Fujita was a staple in the Chiefs' starting lineup last season, opening up all 16 games at left outside linebacker. Despite his smarts and athleticism, Fujita is expected to move down the depth chart this year following offseason ankle surgery and the team's acquisitions of Kendrell Bell and Derrick Johnson. Fujita will likely back up both outside linebacker positions.

In his first full year as a starter, Fujita showed he can turn in a 100-tackle season and contribute enough elsewhere to rank highly. Four sacks and an interception will do, though just two passes defended go to show that coverage is not currently his forte. If Fujita fails to repeat on that pick in 2004, he should still have the tackle and sack numbers to be attractive.
