Spencer Johnson

Johnson spent some time starting in 2010 due to injuries, but Marcell Dareus isn't being brought in to sit the bench, so expect Johnson to be more of a valuable sub in 2011. His 55 tackles from last season will almost certainly see a drop.

Johnson, who played 49 percent of the Bills' defensive snaps in 2009, will likely switch from DT to DE in the team's new 3-4 defense. Marcus Stroud will probably hold one of those starting DE spots and Dwan Edwards looks like he might have an edge on Johnson for the other, but Johnson will be part of a rotation at the very least. Don't count on a lot of counting stats here as almost everyone will be getting used to a new position, but know that the Bills will be counting on his experience and steady play.

Johnson finished the 2008 season with 31 total tackles, two sacks and three passes defensed. The Bills like the depth he provides and he allows the team to use a rotation at defensive tackle, but the top two guys -- Marcus Stroud and Kyle Williams -- are still under contract for 2009 and both will typically put up better IDP numbers than Johnson.

Johnson didn’t get many opportunities to showcase his talents in Minnesota, where he was stuck behind two Pro Bowl defensive tackles. He probably won’t start in Buffalo either, but he should factor into the rotation alongside Kyle Williams, Marcus Stroud and John McCargo. He may also see some time at defensive end; in fact, his versatility is one of the reasons he probably won't land a starting spot.

A knee injury ended his 2006 season in December, and he returns to back up Pat and Kevin Williams at defensive tackle. He should pick up some tackles and maybe a sack or two, but has no IDP value.
