Magee recently had surgery to remove a cancerous tumor from his left kidney, the Associated Press reports. "I'm very fortunate that we caught this early and very thankful for the tremendous care I've gotten," Magee said.

Magee withdrew from last weekend's FedEx St. Jude Classic due to an injury to his right wrist, the Memphis Commercial Appeal reports.

Magee tied for eighth at the Bob Hope Classic, giving him two top 10's this year after missing the 2004 season with an Achilles tendon injury.

Magee finished tied for seventh at the Sony Open last week, his first tournament in 15 months. He's been recovering slowly from heel surgery back in the fall of 2003.

Magee returned to the PGA Tour in fine fashion this week, finishing tied for eighth at the Buick Open. Magee withdrew from the Greater Hartford Open last week due to the death of his mother.
