Estes (illness) is listed in the field for this week's FedEx St. Jude Classic.
ANALYSIS
Estes withdrew from the Wells Fargo Championship in early May due to allergies, but he'll return to tournament action this week in Memphis. The former St. Jude Classic champion has made the cut in 21 of 26 appearances at the event, but hasn't posted a top-10 at TPC Southwind since 2010.

At 51, Estes is Champions Tour material, but he also teed it up 15 times on the regular tour, making thee cuts with a best of T27 at San Antonio. Estes got to play based on a major medical extension, and still has eight starts remaining to earn $479,000 or 300 points.
Estes has been at this for a long time and at the age of 47, he's well past his prime. In fact, his finish inside the top-125 last year was a bit of a surprise. It would be more of a surprise if he managed to do it again this year. With that in mind, he's obviously not a good pick in salary cap leagues. Depending on how deep the league, he might not get drafted either.
Estes hit a major milestone last season a he surpassed $20 million in career earnings. Not only that, but he actually had one of his best seasons in quite a while. With that in mind, he set the bar too high to justify a selection in salary cap leagues. In draft leagues, he might be worth a late-round dart.
At 43, Estes' best years on the golf course are behind him. He peaked in 2001 when he won twice on the PGA TOUR, but over the past six or seven years, it's been pretty much the same old story. Expect much the same this season as Estes will show well in some spots, but not many.
Estes had a nice run from the start of April through the end of May last season where he captured three top-10s. Other than that, he didn't get much done. Estes hasn't shown his top form since 2003 and there are no signs that it's coming back anytime soon.
Estes basically had two good weeks in 2006. One came at the Shell Houston Open, which was legit, the other at the Reno-Tahoe Open, which was against a watered-down field. Estes is most likely past his prime, which doesn't make for a good pick in 2007.
Estes didn't really make much noise last year. He had one runner-up finish, but overall did not meet expectations. Estes broke through in 2001 earning $2.7 million, but has declined the last two years. We're not sure if that is a trend, but we wouldn't expect too much of a bump this year. However, he has always been pretty consistent and he's a decent guy to count on if he slips under your league's radar.
