Returning from suspension in Puerto Rico
February 25, 2018
Fritsch will return from his three-month suspension at this week's Puerto Rico Open Charity Pro-Am, PGATour.com reports.
ANALYSIS
Fritsch was originally suspended due to a violation of the PGA Tour's drug policy after taking a banned weight-loss supplement, but his suspension will conclude at the end of February. This year's edition of the Puerto Rico Open is not an official PGA Tour event with FedExCup points, as the 20-entrant field includes both PGA and LPGA members who will be playing for charity purposes. Fritsch lost his Tour card after finishing 204th in the FedExCup standings last season, so he'll likely return to action on the Web.com Tour in March as a result.

The veteran Canadian has had his most PGA Tour success in 2013 and 2014, but still couldn't reach the playoffs. He's back on tour, thanks to finishing 14th on the Web.com regular-season money list, but it's likely a one-year reprieve.
Fritsch missed the Top-125 by a few spots last season, but he saved status with runner-up showing at the Web.com Tour Championship.
Fritsch’s 2012 season on the Web.com Tour was highlighted by a tie for second at the Mylan Classic. In all, he had seven top-10s and made 18 cuts in 26 starts on his way to an 18th-place finish on the final money list and a ticket to the PGA TOUR. Fritsch then decided to go PGA Tour Qualifying School to improve his standing on the Reshuffle List, which is the priority rankings for getting into tournaments for those players coming from the Web.com Tour and Q-school. After finishing the Web.com Tour at about 35th on that List, his tie for seventh at Q-school bumped his position up to about 14th. A very strong improvement and in the end, a sound decision. A more accurate driver will be needed at the next level, however, as his 62.57 percent probably won’t cut it on a weekly basis with the big boys.
