Like many rookies, Young stumbled out of the gates in his debut season, making just three of his first 13 cuts before finding form with a T-3 at the alternate event Puerto Rico Open. He got through sectional qualifying to play in his first major championship at LA Country Club (where he missed the cut) and ended up with a decent six top-20s on the season. The biggest obstacle for Young is around-the-green play, where he ranked a dreadful 185th.
