2025 Fantasy Outlook
Thompson had a career year in 2024 ranking top-10 in both SG: Total and adjusted scoring average on the PGA Tour to go along with notching his first win at the John Deere Classic. Thompson also had two runner-up results as well and totaled 13 top-25 finishes. Usually one of the last things that comes along for young players is the short game, but the 25-year-old has some of the best hands on Tour ranking fifth in SG: Around-the-Green. Thompson also has the power, precision with the irons and putting stroke to make him be successful on the PGA Tour for a long time to come. It would not be shocking to see Thompson put together an even bigger season in 2025 and maybe even make the U.S. Ryder Cup team at Bethpage. Read Past Outlooks
Unable to convert 54-hole lead
Thompson carded a one-over 72 in the final round of the John Deere Classic to finish tied for 18th place.

Thompson was in position to defend his title as he entered the final round with a one-shot lead, but he was unable to get much going with only three birdies to go along with four bogeys to fall down the leaderboard. On a positive note, he gained shots in every strokes gained category for the tournament and was 10th in SG: Off-the-tee. It's only Thompson's third top-20 across 20 starts this year.

Thompson had an excellent start to his rookie season with two top-15s in his first three events and a runner-up finish at The American Express in January. The momentum stalled from there, however, as he failed to record a top-10 the rest of the year. The 24-year-old is fueled by his driving play, as he is long off-the-tee (31st in driving distance) and fairly accurate having ranked 90th in driving accuracy. Considering the other areas of his game are all around Tour average, some slight improvements across the board along with a year under his belt on the main stage could lead to an improved second season.
