Gogel shot a course record 63 in the opening round of the Booz Allen Classsic, but scored above 70 in his next three rounds and finished tied for 7th.

Gogel did not compete at the Masters tournament. In his last start (at the BellSouth Classic at TPC Sugarloaf, in Duluth, GA) he failed to make the cut.

Gogel didn't make the cut after finishing as the runner up last season at the AT&T Pebble Beach Pro-Am.

Gogel is the defending champion at the AT&T Pebble Beach Pro-Am this week.

Gogel wrenched his back in the first round of the U.S. Open on Thursday, the Cincinnati Enquirer reports.
