As one of the best players on the European Tour over the past five years, Hanson has more upside than most players in this range, but he didn't meet expectations last season. With that said, if he starts well, he should maintain his world ranking, which will gain him access to all the big events this year and create plenty of opportunity to improve upon his 2013 number. In draft leagues, he should go in the 90-100 range.
Hanson has been the classic European player the last decade or so. He's remained committed to the European Tour, which has limited his earnings on the PGA TOUR, but that's about to change this year as Hanson is finally ready to give it a go in the states. Playing full time on the PGA TOUR is no guarantee of success, even if said player had plenty success on the European Tour, so it's wise not to get too excited about the new crop of foreign players coming over this year. But Hanson has plenty of game and should adapt well to his new surroundings. He could be useful in salary cap leagues as well as in the seventh or eighth round of draft leagues.
Hanson is another who always seems to play well in Europe, but for some reason it just doesn't translate to the PGA Tour. He's still got a healthy World Golf Ranking, so he'll get his chances this year at most of the big events, but if those events happened to be on U.S. soil, then he's probably out of luck.
Hanson had a pretty strong 2010 season, which included a top-10 at the WGC Bridgestone event, a top-20 at the U.S. Open and a T26 at the WGC-CA Championship event. Hanson should find his way into the upper echelon of the European Tour players soon - maybe this year.
