Claxton will be in the field for the upcoming Rocket Mortgage Classic, Rob Bolton of PGATour.com reports.

ANALYSIS
Claxton had originally been bumped to the first alternate spot after Ernie Els decided to enter the event late, but C.T. Pan's (undisclosed) recent withdrawal will allow Claxton to rejoin the field. Claxton has not made a single cut since the 2018 Rex Hospital Open on the Web.com Tour.

Claxton did little on Web.com Tour last season, but he saved his tour card in The Finals.

Claxton never had a chance to breathe last year; he was too busy earning small paychecks each week. To say that Claxton took the slow road to a PGA TOUR card last year is an understatement. Claxton earned less than $25K 11 times last season, but all those checks add up and when sprinkled in with two top-10s, it was enough to crack the top 125. Claxton's upside looks limited, and he should probably be avoided in salary cap leagues. As for draft leagues, Claxton does play a lot, so he could have some value late in drafts.

Claxton really came out of nowhere to grab his PGA Tour card for the upcoming season. He played only a handful of events on the Nationwide Tour last season and didn't accomplish much in his time there. Claxton looks like a player who got hot at the right time and earned his card, but it's doubtful he'll have much success this season on the PGA Tour.
