Ersberg saw his playing time all but vanish with the emergence of Jonathan Quick, appearing in just 11 games for the Kings last year. With Quick ahead of him on the depth chart and with prospect Jonathan Bernier knocking on the door behind him, it's hard to imagine Ersberg will have much of a role on the Kings in 2010-11. In all likelihood, he'll return in a backup role behind Quick, unless the Kings decide to let Bernier fill that role this season.
Ersberg grabbed the keys and had a pretty good lock on the starting netminding duties early in the season before a groin injury in November. He never really got back on track as Jonathan Quick took over the reigns but he'll enter training camp in a three-way battle with Quick and Jonathan Bernier for the starting duties in LA.
Ersberg enters training camp in a battle with Jason LaBarbera for the starting goalie job after posting two shutouts in 14 games down the stretch for the Kings. His fantasy value is limited on what figures to be a Kings team that struggles to win many games.
