2025 Fantasy Outlook
After starting his NHL career with the Golden Knights in 2020-21, Coghlan is back with Vegas on a one-year, $775,000 contract. The right-shot defenseman got into only six games with the Jets last year, but he earned 12 goals and 16 assists over 36 appearances with AHL Manitoba. Considering he has played in just seven NHL games over the last two years, Coghlan is unlikely to have a stable role in 2025-26, though he could sporadically push Kaedan Korczak out of the lineup on the right side of the third pairing. Pair of points in Henderson's win
Coghlan scored a goal on three shots and added an assist in AHL Henderson's 4-3 win over San Diego on Saturday.
ANALYSIS
Coghlan has three points over four games this season. He never played with AHL Henderson during his first stint in the Golden Knights' organization, as Vegas hadn't established its minor-league affiliate at that time. He'll be near the top of the list of call-ups should the Golden Knights need a defenseman, though they haven't dipped into their depth while Noah Hanifin (undisclosed) has battled an injury early this season.

Past Fantasy Outlooks
2023
2022
The vast majority of Coghlan's first year in Carolina in 2022-23 was spent in the press box. He served as the No. 7 defenseman for the team nearly the entire season, appearing in just 17 games and managing three assists. Coghlan even spent a stint in the AHL in mid-December for conditioning reasons due to the fact he was never able to get in big club's the lineup. He agreed to a new one-year, $850K deal with the Hurricanes in July, but the path to playing time this year seems even stiffer than last following the additions of Dmitri Orlov and Tony DeAngelo in free agency.

Latest Fantasy Rumors

Heading North?
Coghlan is expected to be traded to Winnipeg from Carolina on Friday, Elliotte Friedman of Sportsnet reports.
ANALYSIS
Coghlan would serve as a potential replacement for Nate Schmidt, who was bought out by the Jets before signing a one-year contract with Florida. However, the 26-year-old Coghlan played in just one NHL game last season, so he is far from a lock for the lineup even with Winnipeg and will likely have to compete with Colin Miller and Logan Stanley for a role on the blue line.
