Karel Vejmelka

Karel Vejmelka

29-Year-Old GoalieG
Utah Mammoth
2025 Fantasy Outlook
After years of dangling in trade rumors as a good goalie behind a bad team, Vejmelka upped his game in a contract season and earned an extension with the Mammoth. His five-year deal kicks in for 2025-26 after he posted a 26-22-8 record with a 2.58 GAA and a .904 save percentage in a career-high 58 games. The 29-year-old is among the good goalies in the NHL, especially with that kind of workload, but his numbers could still improve as the team in front of him continues to trend up. Vejmelka should be good for 50 games at a minimum, and if Utah takes the next step forward, he'll be a strong mid-to-late-round pick in fantasy. Read Past Outlooks
Signed a five-year, $23.75 million contract extension with Utah in March of 2025.
Has first rough game
GUtah Mammoth
October 28, 2025
Vejmelka allowed five goals on 24 shots in Tuesday's 6-3 loss to the Oilers. The sixth goal was an empty-netter.
ANALYSIS
This was the first really bad game for Vejmelka, though he allowed four goals on 20 shots against the Blues last week in a win. The 29-year-old netminder won't be at his best all the time, but he's been a big positive for the Mammoth early in the season. He's 6-2-0 with a 2.75 GAA and an .892 save percentage over eight starts this season. The Mammoth are back at home for a game Sunday versus the Lightning before embarking on their third road trip of the year and the first one to take them into the Eastern Conference.

Past Fantasy Outlooks
2024
2023
2022
Vejmelka looked like Utah's goalie of the future with a breakout 2022-23 showing, but he crashed to Earth in 2023-24, and his game seemed porous. There was even talk of waiving him. Vejmelka is a solid enough netminder, but with Connor Ingram's emergence, he's going to settle for the No. 2 role in Utah. The arrival of Mikhail Sergachev and John Marino on the team's blue line will help both goalies tremendously, so expect far better numbers for Vejmelka than his 3.35 GAA and .895 save percentage from last year. He could offer some depth fantasy value if he can force a platoon situation.
Vejmelka has been serviceable in goal for a poor Coyotes team since his debut during the 2021-22 campaign. Last season, he posted a 3.43 GAA and an .899 save percentage in 50 appearances. He was better at home, registering a .907 save percentage while earning 12 of his 18 wins. However, fatigue seemingly set in down the stretch. Vejmelka went 4-7-2 with an .877 save percentage and a 4.15 GAA in his last 14 appearances. The 27-year-old will be entering the second year of his three-year deal and figures to be Arizona's top goaltending option again this season. Vejmelka's fantasy ceiling is capped due to a poor surrounding cast and limited upside.
Vejmelka arrived stateside last season after many years of playing in his native Czechia and established himself as Arizona's No. 1 goaltender. Unfortunately that isn't a gig these days that will do wonders for your statistics. All told, Vejmelka played in 52 games, posting a horrific 13-32-3 record along with a 3.68 GAA and .898 save percentage. He had one shutout. The overall state of the Coyotes' franchise at the moment makes it nearly impossible to trust any goaltender on their team, Vejmelka included, from a fantasy perspective. He's nothing more than a late-round dart throw for managers looking for a goalie who should get consistent playing time.

Latest Fantasy Rumors
Set to start against Oilers
GUtah Mammoth
October 28, 2025
Vejmelka was working in the starter's crease Tuesday, Utah Radio broadcaster Mike Folta reports, indicating he'll be in goal on the road versus Edmonton.
ANALYSIS
Vejmelka looks poised to extend his six-game winning streak when he faces off with Connor McDavid and company. During his run of victories, the 29-year-old netminder is sporting a 2.48 GAA and a .901 save percentage. Even with the veteran Vitek Vanecek waiting in reserve, Vejmelka should continue to see the bulk of the workload going forward.
